My parents moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico when I was a sophomore in college. When I would go back home to visit, my family and I would explore their new city. It totally became a thing for us as a family. Since then, every time we go back to visit, there is always something new my family wants to take us to. My parents aren’t foodies by any means, but now that they are empty nesters they tend to go out more with their friends for dinner and cocktails. Their latest find is the Sawmill Market. The history of the location is pretty cool as well.

The Sawmill Market is located in the Lumber District. It is close to Old Town Albuquerque. The building was once a lumber company. Now it has been converted into a market that has food, cocktails, coffee, desserts, flowers, etc. Various merchants offer a variety of choices.

The design aesthetic gives you a modern vibe with some industrial vibes mixed in. Everything was simple yet elevated with textures, and patterns. The natural light flowing in through the beautiful big windows, along with the wood details throughout the structure, gave such a cozy element to the space.

Can we talk about the food? It was an Instagrammer’s dream! The food literally looked too beautiful to eat. It was definitely Instagram worthy! Just look at that mozzarella on the salad?! This was the Little Italy Salad from Hawt Pizza Co. It was delicious! My dad ordered from Roti NM Rotisserie Kitchen.

The Botanic Bar was closed the day we were there, but the concept of the bar is so cool. The outside structure looks like a greenhouse.

The kids and I decided that before we left we had to try out a paleta from the Paleta Project. The kids and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE paletas(popsicles). The Paleta Project had various flavors of paletas to choose from and you had the option to add a topping to them. My daughter got bubblegum and my son got lime. They didn’t want any toppings. I, on the other hand, got a Mango paleta drizzled with Chamoy and Tajin. Deliciosa!

Overall, the Sawmill Market was a wonderful experience. What I love most about the Sawmill Market is the variety of options. You could honestly visit multiple times and try something new each time. I will definitely revisit when I go back home.
